Role Overview We are seeking a professional and efficient Medical Administrator to provide confidential and high-quality administrative support to the Acute Clinical Team. The role involves handling correspondence, audio typing, booking appointments, and liaising with patients, relatives, GPs, and hospital staff. The post-holder will work as part of the Administration Team, reporting to the Administration Lead. Key Requirements Qualifications & Experience: GCSEs (C/4 or above) in English & Maths. NVQ Level 3 in Administration or relevant experience in a hospital/office setting. Advanced keyboard skills, including accurate audio typing (minimum 60 wpm). Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospital IT systems. Skills & Competencies: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional telephone manner with the ability to handle queries sensitively. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritise workload, work independently, and use initiative. Strong team player, adaptable, and able to work under pressure. Key Responsibilities Administration & Correspondence: Manage consultant correspondence, type clinical letters, and transcribe minutes. Maintain patient records, process referrals, and book appointments/investigations. Ensure efficient use of IT systems and meet Trust targets. Patient & Clinical Team Support: Handle patient queries, liaise with medical staff, and coordinate procedures. Support consultants with diary management, governance tasks, and external communication. Service & Team Contribution: Assist in service improvements and audits. Cover for colleagues during absences and support team training. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
