Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Salary Range: £30,000 (+ Shift allowance, Overtime available)
Location: Towcester, On-site
Role and Business Summary:
The Microwave & Functional Materials Capability forms part of the Electronic Systems and Materials Theme within the BAE
SYSTEMS Advanced Technology Centre. The role of the Manufacturing Group within the business is to manufacture our
products at the Towcester facility. Typically, this could cover a whole range of materials including composites, Rubber, Resin,
paints and high temperature materials. A Production Technician is required to join the Manufacturing Group to support the
Production team in the Manufacture of our range of products.
This is an entry-level role, and so we will provide the successful candidates with robust training and guidance required to
perform the role effectively.
Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will, through the use of defined manufacturing processes and current production plant and equipment,
produce a variety of standard products to an agreed production schedule. Likely tasks include:
Use of plant and equipment to compound and press Rubber and Resin based sheet materials.
Use of Plant and equipment to produce Resin based products.
Manufacture of Composite component and shapes through the use of Resin Pre-impregnated fabrics.
Spraying advanced coatings onto composites.
Your Skills, Experience, Knowledge & Behaviour:
Essential:
Level 2 Qualification in Manufacturing/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering related disciplines (or alternative
accreditation).
Good hand skills when working with a variety of tools and products.
Able to work both as part of a team and autonomously when required.
Desire to perform shop-floor based tasks
A Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable (but not Essential)
Previous experience (academic or industrial) working with polymers or composites.
Previous experience (academic or industrial) in spraying operations.
