We are looking for highly motivated anaesthetists for a 3-year programme which will consist of a defined series of rotations to support an application to the GMC Specialist Register via the Portfolio. Successful applicants will be go through placements at UCLH and St Bartholomew’s - hospitals that conduct tertiary and quaternary clinical work and have international reputations for excellence.

Candidates will have an opportunity to apply for Locum Consultant post(s) at the end of the programme (subject to satisfactory progress and availability)

Our department’s principal aim is to provide the highest quality perioperative and anaesthetic care to patients treated at UCLH – hence we are looking for outstanding candidates who are clinically excellent, exemplary communicators and who provide empathic and holistic care. The CESR Programme will consist of a series of clinical rotations covering set modules in which successful applicants will receive appropriate training, teaching and assessment. All rotations must be completed, including cardiothoracics at Barts, neuroanaesthesia at NHNN, critical care and general modules at UCLH.

CESR fellows will work with their educational supervisor to develop a schedule of clinical work that, as far as possible, fulfils the goal of applying for CESR certification at the end of the programme.

There is an on call component to the post – this will vary in frequency and role depending on the site. Cultivating independent practice is an integral part of the programme and will be encouraged appropriate to the candidates’ competency.

Successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the highest standards of patient care, work in accordance with trust values and partake in departmental QI, research, teaching, governance and management activities.
