Summary

Court Clerk - Casual - SCP5 £12.85 per hour (plus 12.06% statutory holiday pay entitlement).
As a Court Clerk you will be the first point of contact for bereaved families, witnesses and outside agencies when attending the Coroners Court. We are therefore looking for someone who can establish professional and effective working relationships with a wide range of people.
You must have experience of dealing with the public on a face to face basis, in emotionally challenging situations and when doing so be able to recognise potential distress, acting and responding tactfully and appropriately.
You will be required to attend court and when doing so you may be asked to present statements, reading the statement out loud in court when a witness has not been required to attend the inquest hearing, therefore good public speaking skills are essential.
As a Court Clerk you will maintain records both during and after the inquest, therefore accuracy, legible handwriting and attention to detail are essential to the role, along with developed IT skills and the ability to produce accurate typed documents.
You must be able to manage own time and work towards time driven deadlines and follow management instruction.
This position is on a casual basis only. We are looking to recruit people to join our pool of casual staff whom we are reliant on to support the service during busy periods. The role will involve constant and detailed interaction about death and therefore emotional resilience will be needed.
