Summary
As a victim liaison officer on the Rape and Serious Sexual offence (RASSO) team you will work with and support victims of rape – communicating over the phone, in person and in writing about cases. You will support victims to understand the decisions we make and work with independent sexual violence advisors. You will be the main facilitator for pre-trial meetings with the prosecution team and the victim. You will provide a service to victims of rape that is compassionate, empathetic, and consistent – helping them in a calm, professional manner during a sensitive and challenging time.
As a victim liaison officer, you play a crucial role working with prosecutors, police witness care units and other criminal justice colleagues. You will build effective working relationships to continuously improve our service, and ensure victims are directed to guidance and appropriate information – including support services.
