The team is a dynamic and agile group committed to delivering domain-specific services that meet the complex and diverse needs of our researchers.

About the Role

As part of the University’s IT department, iSolutions, we play a crucial role in supporting research initiatives across the University. We foster collaborative partnerships with researchers to develop sustainable IT solutions that address the evolving demands of our high-impact research organization, which produced 6,500 research outputs in 2023 alone.

What you’ll do

Deliver and support IT applications and systems that enhance research at a leading Russell Group University.
Collaborate directly with researchers at all levels, from professors to PhD students, providing expert technical support to facilitate their research activities.
Take ownership of the complete service lifecycle for these applications and services, including deployment, upgrades, security and data protection.
Produce effective systems and user documentation for the services you provide.
Inspire and mentor junior colleagues within the team, fostering their professional growth and development.
Lead and drive larger projects within the team, championing innovative solutions that advance our research capabilities.
Cultivate strong professional relationships with researchers across the institution, becoming a trusted partner in their research endeavours.


What you’ll bring

A solid understanding of Red Hat Linux and Windows Server platforms.
Experience with key technologies, including Apache/IIS web servers, SQL databases, virtual machines, and IP networking.
Proficiency in cloud computing, particularly with Microsoft Azure.
Knowledge of AzureAD and Single Sign-On solutions.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to present your ideas and expertise to a diverse audience, including those who may not have a technical background.
A commitment to integrity and confidentiality when handling commercially sensitive and personally identifiable information.
