Crynodeb
We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment. As an organisation we strive to reflect the communities we serve and continue to develop diversity throughout our workforce. We welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of race, sexual orientation, or religion.
The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective/efficient running of our flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and our wider business. You will be joining a MEICA team helping to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of our crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment; which will have an increasingly important role as we face the challenge of global climate change. Following our recent ISO55001 Asset Management accreditation, you will be working closely with external contractors to develop a world class asset management organisation.
The role will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards. It will also be responsible for monitoring the quality and advising on the requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements, spreading across the geographic areas covering a diverse range of assets.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
Joining our South East MEICA Team of mixed disciplines you will report to the MEICA Team Leader, acting as technical leader on MEICA activity and will participate in our response to flood incidents. You will provide technical mechanical support and direction to other team members and be responsible for liaising with a wide range of business partners and leading on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.
Experience/skills required
• Comprehensive knowledge of engineering related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
• Experience in taking a lead role in safety investigations, identifying and disseminating learning to bring about improvements in engineering and behavioural safety.
• Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, Reliability engineering and process improvement, Technical Leadership, writing and reviewing technical specifications
• Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate Mechanical discipline.
• Full UK Driving License
