Your role:

GMCA's Delivery Team support the delivery of Greater Manchester's housing objectives and priorities. The team provide additional resource, support and specialist input where this is requested by Local Authorities to support the delivery of key projects and interventions across the conurbation. In addition to the Local Authorities, the Delivery Team develop close working relationships with public sector partner organisations including Homes England and Transport for Greater Manchester.

The Delivery Team is looking for a Programme Administrator to support the work of the team. The role holder will provide high quality, customer focussed, flexible and timely administrative support to the Growth Locations and Brownfield Housing Fund programmes. Candidates will need to have experience of working in an administrative support role demonstrating strong organisational skills, time management, attention to detail and experience of using Microsoft packages. Key responsibilities will include: providing proactive project, administrative and diary support to meet the needs of the Delivery Team, producing accurate minutes across a range of meetings, corresponding courteously with colleagues, partners and stakeholders, raising requisitions and updating management information systems accurately and promptly.

Please note that this post is offered alongside a Level 4 Apprenticeship, either a Policy Officer or Project Management Apprenticeship. This will be determined with the successful candidate upon appointment.


About you:

We are looking for someone who has an enthusiasm for Greater Manchester and public sector delivery who demonstrates the following experience:

  • Record of providing high quality administrative support in a busy office environment
  • Dealing with a range of office systems, managing data entry and maintaining management information/ filing systems
  • Working to tight deadlines and being able to independently manage workload
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders and corresponding in a professional manner and working proactively to support the needs of the team.

We are also looking for candidates with the following skills and behaviours:

  • Planning and organising - provide work on time to required standard and manage deadlines through effective prioritisation
  • Communication - communicate clearly concisely and accurately and be able to absorb and disseminate complex information in verbal and written forms
  • Interpersonal skills - interpersonal and negotiating skills with people at all levels, including public and private stakeholders
  • Problem solving and decision making - able to identify, communicate and escalate problems when they arise, offering solutions where necessary
  • ICT, literacy and numeracy skills - able to use multiple applications, produce accurate written correspondence and undertake calculations
  • Administrative - able to use and accurately maintain effective administration systems in a rapidly changing environment
  • Commitment to equality - through personal example, ensure diversity is positively valued
  • Analytical - able to gather and analyse information from a range of sources
  • Positive attitude and an enthusiasm to learn and develop in the role
