Crynodeb

The Central North West London Trust (CNWL) Liaison and Diversion teams are part of a highly respected and innovative service that works currently across health and social care services and the criminal justice system including Milton Keynes area.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our team, to provide a comprehensive, high quality Support Time Recovery work on a part time basis 15hours per week (2 days). The two days are flexible to meet your needs and the service needs. Post is currently based at CNWL at the Milton Keynes Police custody and Magistrate court.

The role involves working with a wide range of services such as the police, probation, the court and legal services as well as both inpatient and community mental health and social care services. Our work includes working Monday-Friday. Successful candidates will need to have excellent communication skills as well as the flexibility to work alongside these different cliental groups. Candidates will need to be able to work effectively as part of a team as well as having the skills and confidence to work as individuals in a range of environments. Supervision and consultation is available to the team to support practice.

The service is funded through the NHS England Liaison and Diversion programme. Liaison and Diversion (L&D) services identify clients who have mental health, learning disability, substance misuse or other vulnerabilities when they first come into contact with the criminal justice system as suspects, defendants or offenders from the prosecution age of 10 years.

Our direct contact with service users may take place at police stations or in the magistrate court. Our work can be very challenging but we continue to aim to ensure that individuals receive the best and most appropriate care for their needs. Through screening, assessment and appropriate referral/sign posting, we are able to promote better health outcomes, reduce re-offending and reduce pressure on the police and court services.

Candidates will need to submit an application for an enhanced DBS including working with children and have it approved before a contract can be agreed.

The post holder’s primary function of the role is to work alongside Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion practitioners as part of the Criminal Justice Liaison and Diversion Support Time and Recovery (STR). The STR worker will work with individual clients in providing support with practical concerns or difficulties that might be affecting their mental health, wellbeing and other identified vulnerabilities. The STR worker will provide time limited 1:1 support to clients giving information and/or support to allow them to access a wide range of agencies and services that can provide help and advice with for example, housing, social isolation and exclusion, education, debt management, employment problems and any other identified vulnerabilities.
