This full-time position involves cutting, trimming, and preparing various cuts of meat from larger wholesale portions into steaks, chops, roasts, and other retail cuts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to quality, sanitation, and exceptional customer service. Familiarity with traditional Punjabi cuts of meat will be a significant advantage, as this role involves catering to a diverse clientele that values authentic flavours and techniques. Your knowledge of cultural practices and preferences will help enhance our offerings and ensure customer satisfaction in a welcoming environment. Key Responsibilities
Meat Preparation: Cut, trim, and prepare various cuts of meat, ensuring proper sanitation and quality standards.
Customer Service: Provide outstanding service by weighing, packaging, and displaying meat for sale. Advise customers on cooking methods and special orders.
Attractive Displays: Create appealing meat displays in the retail case and rotate stock to ensure freshness.
Customer Assistance: Assist customers in selecting cuts of meat, answering questions about cooking methods, and fulfilling special orders.
Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place orders with suppliers, and manage meat rotation to minimise waste.
Sanitation Standards: Adhere to strict sanitation and hygiene standards, including proper handling, storage, and cleaning of equipment and work areas.
Team Leadership: Delegate tasks to other butchers on the counter and ensure a collaborative work environment.
Payment Processing: Handle customer payments accurately and efficiently.
Qualifications
Experience: Proven experience as a butcher or in a similar role within a grocery store or specialty meat market.
Knowledge of Meat Cuts: Thorough understanding of different meat cuts, their quality, and cooking methods.
Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers.
