1. To perform all duties to a high standard within the x-ray department including all necessary documentation and patient computer records.2. To fully comply with local rules, professional code of conduct, codes of practice for radiation protection. To ensure that all examinations performed are justified and pertinent in line with IR(ME)R 2017 in order to reduce unnecessary ionizing radiation exposure to patients.3. To acquire diagnostic images and physically position the full range of patient presentations accurately for examinations using immobilization when required.4. Use skills to asses a full range of patient presentations accurately for examination and decide on an appropriate method to obtain a radiograph, adapting standard techniques where necessary.5. Provide information by explanation of radiological procedures, listening to the parents and/or carers requirements in order to encourage compliance with the imaging process. Be able to adapt communication for some patients/ carers who will have barriers to understanding.6. To prioritize appropriately for efficient and effective working, to contribute to the delivery of an effective and responsive Radiology service.7. To promote and develop all aspects of patient care, by pursuit of high professional standards, in order to provide a high quality service.8. To demonstrate a level of specialist knowledge and competency of paediatric techniques and pathologies.9. To maintain and improve practical and theoretical standards in paediatric radiography by ensuring on going and active personal CPD (continued professional development).10. To provide specialized knowledge and practical skills to students and staff seconded to or rotating through the department in all areas of paediatric radiography.11. To work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and delivery of care.12. Operate imaging equipment in differing and demanding environments being able to manage unpredictable workloads effectively.13. Possess keyboard skills for use of CR system, computer software packages and data entry on Meditech system.14. To flag radiographic abnormalities using the appropriate system of work in place e.g. the red dot system and ensure that urgent findings are communicated, and patients are directed accordingly.15. To actively participate in the technical and patient focused aspects of the departments audit programme.16. To be actively involved in the development and performance of quality assurance procedures and to undertake visual checks of the equipment and report any equipment malfunction to the line manager.17. To ensure a safe working environment and reduce clinical risk by following all trust and departmental policies and procedures.
