The Urology Department at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Consultant Urologist with specialist interest in Female and Functional urology to join our fantastic team based at the Royal Bolton Hospital. This is fixed term locum position to complement our already well-established team of Urology Consultants.

We are a forward thinking department, which strives to provide a service that is continually improving for our patients and staff alike. You will be working alongside experienced Consultant colleagues, who work very closely as a team in the truest sense of the word. Our Urology Theatre, Day Surgery Ward provision, and Diagnostic Suite are located together, in the Bolton Centre of Urology (which was designed with the needs of the Urology patient in mind); and this has created a very flexible working environment for the entire Urology team to facilitate the smooth running of both elective and emergency work.

The successful candidate will be expected to have an interest in female and functional urology and to support the team in the provision of core urology services.

We operate the Consultant of the week model with each Consultant undertaking 1 hot week with out of hours cover and 1 cold week only covering the closed site inpatient emergency work during normal working hours. With this arrangement, the successful candidate will be participating in a 1:12 hot week on call rota.

This is aLOCUMpost initially for 12 months with a view to extend. We are looking to recruit a candidate who has special interest in Female and functional Urology but will also work in General Urology.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Actively participate in the planning, development and delivery of the Urological service for the department

· Function as a member of the Urological team and contribute to multi-disciplinary team work

· Participate in the consultant on-call rota with additional cover during colleagues absence

· Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients and ensure adequate arrangements are made for leave and off-duty periods

· Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients through direct patient care, systematic audit and by the maintenance of continuing professional development

· Develop specialist elements of the service in order to meet priorities within available resources.

You would be also joining a high-performing Trust, which has been rated ‘good’ by the CQC in the last two inspections. During its last visit in 2019 the CQC noted that leadership across the Trust is ‘outstanding’ and our Consultant body play a huge part in leadership. Our Trust and department in particular has an excellent reputation in Urological Specialty Training.

Even more pleasingly, our Staff Surveys tell us that our staff think that the Trust is a great place to work and develop with a very strong ‘team’ culture in place. We would love to hear from you and would encourage you to contact our team to find out more about what the Urology service, and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, can offer you.

Please see job description and person specification for more detail information of position.
