JOB SUMMARY:
The key purpose of this role is to provide good quality personalised, safe, responsive and
timely care to the residents of Iden Manor.
Key Responsibilities
• To work under direct supervision/instruction of the Senior HCA/qualified
nursing staff
• Assist in delivering a high standard of health care to residents, promoting their
equality, privacy and dignity at all times
• Assist with residents’ hygiene, mobility, physical comfort, eating and drinking and social interaction, whilst observing and reporting any changes as necessary
• Observe and report changes in the residents’ condition to the nurse in charge
• Maintain contemporaneous and accurate records of the care given
Clinical Duties
• To communicate effectively within the multi-disciplinary team
• Make contemporaneous, accurate and complete person centred care entries on to
residents care record
• Use appropriate infection control procedures
• Segregate and dispose of waste materials in line with home’s procedure
• Assist in the maintenance of home’s cleanliness
• Escort clients to and from relevant departments or appointment outside the home
• Provide support to service user’s carers and family members
• Use resources economically and efficiently
• Work under direct supervision/ instruction of qualified nursing staff/SHCA
• Contribute to maintain the cleanliness of the home at all times
• Monitor and report clients requirements re; toiletries and other personal items essential to quality care
• Prepare and serve meals and drinks to the clients.
GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain odour free care areas with high standard of hygiene and cleanliness.
• Ensure that toilets, sluice room and linen cupboard are kept tidy
• Keep clinical equipment (commodes, urinals, bedpans) clean in accordance with policy and procedure
• Ensure beds are made and that dirty laundry (linen, clothing etc) are disposed of as per the Group’s procedures
• Maintain clean, dry, non-slippery surface for walking
• Ensure own and other peoples safety
• Undertake professional development or training that is identified as relevant to the
effective functioning of the post and post holder, including attending all mandatory training
• Act in a professional manner at all times
• Promote confidentiality
• Keep up to date with organizational developments and changes
• Participate in own personal development through the induction and statutory training and supervisions provided
• Report complaints from and accidents to residents, visitors and staff to registered nurse in charge of shift.
• To respect confidentiality of both patients and colleagues
• To support and encourage patients to care for their personal belongings, personal space
and immediate environment
• To work within, support and contribute towards the implementation of the company
Policies and Procedures including; Health and Safety Policy, Equalities and Diversity Policy, General Data Protection Regulations, Data Protection Policy, Quality Assurance Policy and Policies as outlined in the employee handbook
