Hybrid - initial training be provided and an induction take place in Leeds
On occasion it might be required for a survey to take part early evening but this would be kept to a minimum

Skills & Experience:
Relevant qualification in surveying, property management, or a related field.
Ideally, membership or willingness to work towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS or equivalent).
Knowledge of property laws, boundary definitions, and the common issues that arise in residential properties (e.g., access rights, encroachments, shared areas).
Practical knowledge of measuring and producing property plans, including understanding property boundaries, access rights, and garden spaces.
Understanding of the Right to Buy scheme and how it impacts property surveys and boundary agreements.
Experience in identifying potential legal or property issues such as encroachments, shared access, and boundary disputes.
Experience in property surveying, ideally within the context of housing or the Right to Buy scheme.
Good communication skills to document and report issues clearly, ensuring the relevant parties are informed.
Strong organisational skills to manage multiple surveys and property plans effectively.
What's involved with this role: You will be responsible for conducting detailed property measurements for tenants applying to purchase their dwelling under the Right to Buy scheme. This role involves producing accurate plans that identify property boundaries, access rights, and responsibility for land maintenance. You will also identify any potential issues during your survey, ensuring these are clearly noted and addressed. Your work will be crucial in supporting the completion of property transactions, ensuring clarity and legal compliance for both the tenant and the Council.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct detailed measurements and surveys on properties (houses, cottages, and flats) as part of the Right to Buy scheme, ensuring that all measurements are precise and in line with the required standards.
Create property sale plans that clearly show the full extent of garden space, boundary lines, shared access, retaining walls, and other features, while specifying areas of responsibility for maintenance.
Identify and document any issues that need further attention, such as access rights, encroachments, unclear boundaries, and shared services. Ensure these are clearly indicated on the plan and mentioned in the report.
Assign boundary responsibilities in accordance with standard conventions, ensuring clear separation of areas between tenants and neighbors, especially when there are shared access or common spaces.
For cottages, allocate garden space and external storage for each tenant. For flats, produce both external and internal floor plans, detailing room sizes, stair locations, door positions, and wall thickness.
Ensure that all property details are accurately captured, including measurements for shared passageways, external structures, and any other features requiring legal clarification under the Right to Buy scheme.
Submit detailed reports and plans with clear annotations for review by the relevant department, ensuring that all identified issues are addressed and resolved promptly to facilitate property transactions.
