The role
As a Design Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will join a growing team responsible for delivering the facilities and regulatory justification to undertake the removal of nuclear fuel from the growing legacy of the UK's decommissioned SSN fleet, as part of the wider submarine disposal project.

Day-to-day, you'll lead technical teams to meet the customer and regulatory requirements for defuel projects.

  • contribute to the overall through life management plan for the facilities
  • Working with project management teams to deliver the required assets and equipment to time, cost, and quality
  • Contribute to the strategic plan for how we will develop and maintain these assets of national importance
  • Using a systematic approach to demonstrate functionality in accordance with requirements
  • Report on progress to senior levels of management.

This role is full time 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience of the Design Manager

  • Strong technical background in engineering.
  • Experience as a design or engineering manager.
  • Experience working in high hazard industry, ideally nuclear / radiological.

Qualifications for the Design Manager

  • Degree in a STEM subject
  • Chartered engineer or Chartered Project Manager with relevant engineering experience
