We are looking to recruit a motivated Consultants to join our expanding Emergency and Acute Care team in York. We are supportive of candidates with relevant qualifications in Emergency Medicine and have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us for 7.8 sessions per week.

York Hospital Emergency Department (ED) is a friendly, medium-sized ED within a large teaching hospital. It has an annual attendance of over 100,000 patients of which approximately 17% are children below the age of 17 years. The department serves a wide and varied catchment area in and around the City of York, and manages the full range of ED patients including major trauma, minor injury, acute medical, paediatric and psychiatric presentations. It is a tertiary referral centre for vascular surgery, acute stroke, ENT, maxfax and ophthalmology. York ED is a designated trauma unit with strong links with the major trauma centres of Hull and Leeds.

The Emergency Department consists of a fully-equipped eight bay resuscitation room, 14 majors cubicles, 10 rapid assessment and treatment cubicles and and a 5 chair “fit to sit” area. In addition there is a Rapid Access Frailty Assessment area, staffed by a senior geriatrician from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

Our emergency department is co-located with our local Urgent Treatment Centre & OOH GP service. Between us we see over 100,000 patients per years.
