About the role.
We are looking for a creative and versatile Lifestyle Writer to join our Features team, this role is fixed term, covering parental
leave.
You will be responsible for producing engaging lifestyle content for both print and online audiences, covering topics such as
beauty, fashion, travel, food, wellbeing, and health. You will contribute to PA’s Features wire and digital services, creating
original content, attending events, conducting interviews, and managing bespoke customer requests.
You will also play a key role in planning and commissioning content, ensuring a steady flow of timely and engaging lifestyle
stories. A strong understanding of emerging trends, social media platforms, and digital storytelling is essential for success in
this role.
Key responsibilities
* Writing and managing designated lifestyle sections.
* Producing high-quality lifestyle features for print and digital, working to tight deadlines.
* Managing bespoke content for our B2B service, Mediapoint.
* Coordinating and overseeing planning for lifestyle features, in collaboration with other teams.
* Maintaining strong relationships with customers.
* Conducting interviews with celebrities and specialists from relevant lifestyle sectors.
* Attending press events and launches to source exclusive content for PA customers.
* Monitoring trends and social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok to identify new story ideas.
* Working on a rota basis, including occasional evening and weekend shifts to cover key lifestyle events.
What you’ll need.
* Experience working on a national publication or similar, producing high-quality features content.
* A proactive approach to content creation and planning.
* Ability to write clean, engaging, and error-free copy at pace.
* Strong editorial judgement and a keen eye for spotting trends and opportunities.
* Excellent relationship-building skills with PRs, brands, and industry professionals.
* Good knowledge of journalism law.
* Understanding of SEO and how to maximise content reach.
Desirable skills:
* Experience working in breaking news or on a lifestyle desk at a national publication.
* Experience in section planning and commissioning content.
