We are the public body that looks after England’s historic environment. We champion historic places, helping people understand, value and care for them. We are looking for a Senior Evaluation Officer (Grants) to join the team.

This is a full time, permanent role.

What you will be doing

As Senior Evaluation Officer (Grants), you will be taking Historic England on a journey to help us tell better stories about what we do so that we can do more of what works for people and places. You will embed a new grants evaluation process across Historic England, developing and delivering a full suite of training internally, and effectively communicating the new approach across the heritage sector.

As a senior member of the Grants team, you will provide expert advice on issues related to evaluation, data and analysis. You will ensure that the new grants evaluation system and processes are effective and efficient, and can help continuously improve, innovate and understand our impact.

You will work with colleagues across Historic England to sustain a learning environment where insights are shared and applied across the organisation and heritage sector. Your trusted and compelling voice will advocate for data and evaluation, sharing insights through publications, briefings, networking and public speaking.

What we are looking for

Significant experience of research

Evaluation and data analysis

Experience of facilitation training and engagement.

Proven ability to devise innovative evaluation research

Knowledge and direct application of evaluation research methods

Ability to think creatively

Excellent writing and communication skills.
