Do you want to work for an organisation that values difference and includes everyone? Then the Environment Agency is the organisation for you!
We are looking for an experienced Supervising Engineer from the “Supervising Engineers” (SupE) Panel, or someone working towards becoming a SupE in the next two years, to join our team. You will focus on shaping and delivering the Government’s independent review regarding the Reservoir Safety Reform Programme.
Your role will include:
• Carrying out S12’s inspections to Environment Agency and third-party reservoirs as required.
• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders and partners both internally and externally.
• Providing specialist and technical advice and guidance to EA, Government Ministers, Defra, Emergency Services, Reservoir Owners, Reservoir Inspecting and Supervising Engineers relating to Reservoir Safety.
• Providing leadership and engineering assurance on complex reputational, political, technical and legal matters.
• Providing a level of independent technical assurance and supervision for Environment Agency reservoirs.
• Developing and providing training to the panel engineers and reservoir community to improve standards.
• Developing and implementing new legislation.
Your role will ensure an ongoing national assessment and assurance of the quality of reservoir safety supervision and reporting, which would be used to improve standards and safety. You will need to draw on your technical knowledge and skills, using sound evidence to develop guidance and solutions for the industry and operational teams which puts the needs of the public, partners, and other users of our services at its heart.
Everyone that joins us is required to undertake training and participate in incident response duties when the need to respond arises Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment.
The team

You will report to the Standards and Incidents Team Leader, acting as technical leader on Reservoir Safety and will participate in our response to incidents.
Experience/skills required
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated senior technical leader with a passion and commitment for engineering, people and the environment.
