Clinical Team Leaders within the IMHT are responsible for delivering the Wing Based nursing model and applicants should be able to demonstrate the ability to provide education and awareness sessions with our prison colleagues. You must be able to facilitate reflective practice on your allocated wing with prison staff and take leadership over one of our specialist pathways – demonstrating initiative and a willingness to make positive change for mental health services within the prison.
The IMHT has both a Primary and Secondary service and you should have the skills to work with either team.
Our Secondary Service involves carrying a caseload of patients and supporting them as they complete their sentence and prepare for release.
Our Primary Service involves screenings and assessment, signposting and referring to relevant pathways, risk management reviews and crisis nurse responsibilities.
Both services require excellent communication skills, an ability to maintain professional boundaries and the knowledge and understanding of our partner agencies, community services and the Criminal Justice system.
The working day is 07:00 -20:00 which can include early, main and long day shifts – including weekends. Eligible applicants must have appropriate qualifications and be committed to the further development of their own knowledge and skills.
Mersey Care is one of the largest trusts providing physical health and mental health services in the North West, serving more than 1.4 million people across our region and are also commissioned for services that cover the North West, North Wales and the Midlands.
We offer specialist inpatient and community services that support physical and mental health and specialist inpatient mental health, learning disability, addiction and brain injury services. Mersey Care is one of only three trusts in the UK that offer high secure mental health facilities.
At the heart of all we do is our commitment to ‘perfect care’ – care that is safe, effective, positively experienced, timely, equitable and efficient. We support our staff to do the best job they can and work alongside service users, their families, and carers to design and develop future services together. We’re currently delivering a programme of organisational and service transformation to significantly improve the quality of the services we provide and safely reduce cost as we do so.
Please see the attached job description and personal specification which will detail the main responsibilities.
