Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and skilled Upcycle Textile Design Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clothing manufacturing, embroidery, hand sewing, sail making, weaving, or upholstery cutting. This role requires a passion for sustainability, a flair for innovative design, and expertise in transforming waste textiles into high-quality, marketable products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and Development: Create and develop innovative upcycled textile products, including clothing, accessories, home furnishings, and industrial items. Utilize techniques such as embroidery, hand sewing, sail making, weaving, and upholstery cutting.
• Material Sourcing: Identify and source high-quality, sustainable materials from waste textiles. Collaborate with the recycling team to select appropriate fabrics and components for upcycling.
• Prototype Creation: Develop prototypes and samples, experimenting with different materials, techniques, and designs to refine product concepts.
• Technical Expertise: Apply knowledge of textile properties, construction methods, and sustainability principles to design durable, functional, and aesthetically appealing products.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the design, production, and marketing teams to ensure that product designs align with company goals and market trends. Provide technical guidance and support to the production team.
• Quality Control: Ensure all upcycled products meet quality standards, including durability, safety, and sustainability criteria. Conduct regular quality checks and make necessary adjustments to design and production processes.
• Trend Analysis: Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable practices in textile design. Incorporate innovative ideas and techniques into product development.
• Customer Engagement: Engage with customers, stakeholders, and industry partners to promote upcycled products and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of design processes, materials used, and production techniques. Prepare reports on project progress, product development, and sustainability impact.
