Strategic
•work strategically through demonstration at scale in support of modern and contemporary forestry
•focus on natural capital approaches; bigger, better, connected habitats and integrated land management approaches
Leadership and Representation
•lead and manage a team of 4 people representing the planning and environment function
•work cross-functionally in support of delivery teams
•provide professional and credible representation with external organisations e.g. National Parks, Natural England, Wildlife Trusts, RSPB
•be lead Forestry England representative on a number of partnership initiatives covering species and habitats from Ospreys and Wildwoods to Water voles and Border mires
Planning
•ensure compliance with key standards including UKFS and UKWAS
•maximise Natural Capital delivery within a commercially underpinned business model maintaining an appropriate balance between people, nature and economy
•ensure up to date and relevant information is incorporated within strategic, design and operational plans
Environment
•work closely with other function leads and teams ensure opportunities, constraints and threats in relation to environmental factors, species and habitats are fully realised, managed and controlled
Developments
•support planning and development of new opportunities within the district, providing ecological and wider expertise and capacity as required Spatial Data and GIS
•oversee management of Forest District spatial data sets, taking lead responsibility for timber production forecasting driven by accurate inventory
