Summary

Birmingham Newman University are seeking an experienced Money Advisor to provide effective support, information and guidance to our diverse student community.
As Student Money Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the financial wellbeing of our students. You’ll provide one to advice, deliver workshops and develop digital resources to support students with financial capability, income maximisation and understanding statutory funding options. You will support students to navigate complex financial challenges, access additional funding opportunities and gain essential financial literacy skills. Working closely with our recruitment and outreach team, you will also design and deliver, talks, workshops and other activities to inform prospective students and support their preparation and planning for university. The role will support the work of the Advice and Wellbeing team by recognising the intersection between financial support, mental wellbeing, retention and recruitment, and will take an active part in our collaborative approach to casework.

Candidates should have relevant professional experience in the delivery of money advice and advocacy and a demonstrable understanding of the available funding streams for students in a Higher Education setting. You will have specific expertise in the interaction between student funding products and state benefits, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills with proven case work experience and the ability to work in partnership with students and staff alike.
