Summary

Job Description

To supervise offenders undertaking unpaid work as a condition of Community Payback Orders. Wherever possible, encouraging and enabling them to develop their skills and to gain positive experiences.

To comply with National Outcomes and Standards for Social Work Services in the Justice System.

Responsibilities

Act as a positive role model and assume responsibility for all aspects of the placement(s) under supervision.

Work as an accountable and effective member of Justice Social Work Team.

Undertake appropriate administrative tasks relating to provision of service.

Liaise effectively with ling managers, participate in appropriate supervision and undertake relevant training.

Health and Safety at Work Risk Assessment awareness.

The Individual

Practical skills such as woodworking, painting, gardening etc. which could be passed on to clients.

Previous supervisory experience.

4 SQA Standard grades or equivalent at level 3 or above inc English.

Practical skills and appropriate qualifications in woodworking, painting, gardening, welding etc.

Ability to work on own initiative and as a team member.

Active listening and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with those on placements and staff at all levels.

Attention to detail.

Ability to organise and manage own workload.

Ability to record information accurately.

Self-confident and self-motivated.

Able to use good judgement under pressurised situations.

Ability to communicate with people at all levels including Government Agencies and other organisations.

Ability to follow routines and instructions.

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a Moray Council Van/pool car.

Physical fitness appropriate to supervising and undertaking practical tasks such as laying slabs, fencing etc.

Flexibility to meet the needs and demands of the service. (Working outwith office hours including weekends and evenings).

Starting salary: £30,405.05 (pro-rata)

£16.13 per hour

7.25 hours per week (Saturday only)
