Crynodeb

One of the three Registrars and reporting to the Senior Registrar in the Collections Care team, this role will lead on project managing and prioritising the movement, transport and installation of artwork displays in Government buildings in London and around the world for Ministers and Senior Civil Servants; establishing positive and professional working relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally, at different levels.

Responsibilities will also include maintaining location and movement control of artworks on our Collections Management database and undertaking annual audits, coordinating new acquisitions and loans of artwork into the Collection, and managing loans out to public exhibitions.

This is an exciting time to join the Government Art Collection as we continue to respond to the recent General Election and celebrate our 125th anniversary. The Registrars play a key role in the display of the Collection and our public engagement programmes.

Person specification
The ideal candidate would have the following key skills and experiences:

Essential requirements:

Extensive registrarial experience in a museum or gallery environment, including experience in documentation, collections management and care, national and international transport and logistics, as well as managing budgets.
Practical experience of installing artworks in non-museum settings and historic listed buildings.
A highly self-motivated, organised and pragmatic approach to work with excellent team working, interpersonal and communication skills.
Working in a demanding political and international environment, this job also requires flexibility, lateral thinking, tact, diplomacy and discretion.
The ability to work efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines and budgets.
Desirable skills:

A degree or equivalent in art history or similar subject, with additional relevant specialist museum/heritage qualifications.
An interest in the work of Government.
