Crynodeb
Support workers required to provide support to one client with slight learning disabilities, and profoundly deaf at our supported living unit in Ash, Canterbury
The right candidate must be able to use BSL at a minimum of level 2 to enable effective communication. Someone who is able to drive would be beneficial due to location but non drivers are still welcome to apply.
Hourly rate is negotiable and maybe enhanced for the right candidate by the local placing authority.
28 days holiday per year including bank holidays
Different shift patterns available –
Mornings (8am-1pm)
Afternoons (1pm-6pm)
or weekends only, we can offer you shifts that will work for you.
Health & social care diploma an advantage but not a necessity as all training will be given.
Some of the duties include:
Helping around their home with chores such as washing up, cleaning, hoovering, laundry etc.
Support with meal preparation and cooking
Support with chosen activities like going swimming, going to the pub, going to deaf clubs, etc.
Support with medication reminders and /or administration (training will be given)
Support or reminders to complete personal care like help getting dressed, washing etc
Support with weekly shopping
Support to go to medical appointments
Candidates should be:
Be caring, warm-hearted and have a compassionate nature.
Be perceptive and open to client need changes, responsive and intuitive.
Be open to learn and gain new knowledge or grow existing skills.
Be reliable, dependable, able to multitask, able to remain calm and keep a cool head.
Candidates must:
Have a level 2 British Sign Language qualification.
Have the Right To Work in the United Kingdom.
Have a good grasp of the English language.
