Location: Hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the office during school term time. London HQ location: 1 Edcity Walk, Edcity, London W12 7TF from 1st Jan 25 onwards

The Role

As External Affairs Officer, you will play a pivotal role in monitoring, analysing, and responding to developments in education policy, parliamentary activity, and the work of key stakeholders such as think tanks, unions, and the Confederation of School Trusts (CST). Your insights and communication skills will support our strategic objectives and help influence decision-making, ensuring Lift Schools remains at the forefront of education innovation and advocacy.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a parliamentary assistant or policy-focused role.
  • Strong understanding of the UK political system, legislative processes, and education policy.
  • Exceptional research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills and an ability to write for different audiences.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.


Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of education policy developments, including the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill and Ofsted framework consultations.
  • Experience in or familiarity with the education sector, particularly academy trusts.
  • Understanding of key stakeholders in the education space, such as think tanks and unions.
