DWP. Digital with Purpose.

We are looking for a Lead Product Manager to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital.

We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge tech to build and maintain digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work, and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support and empower millions of people.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Experience of influencing stakeholders in difficult circumstances and diffusing challenging situations.
  • You know how to put users first as part of a commitment to user-centred design and know how to achieve this amongst competing priorities including achieving value for the business.
  • Ability to identify if a piece of work is complex or has risk attached to it, and what level of complexity or risk there is.
  • Experience of making decisions under pressure or with little information.
  • Have experience of mentoring and coaching product people and teams to deliver highly quality products and services.
  • Experience of leading products, setting the direction of travel, championing the product and setting the team up to succeed.

You and your role

As a Lead Product Manager, you will be at the forefront of designing, building and managing innovative products that connect millions of UK citizens with essential DWP services.

Using your expertise and experience you'll lead, guide and coach a high-performing team of product managers to success, owning the product roadmap and driving best practice, product excellence and performance metrics.

The role sits within our Common Digital Experience Team. You will drive forward the strategy for providing agent facing digital capabilities. You will lead a team to iterate a live service with a user-base of over 100,000. You will also lead on the strategy for new cross-cutting products.

You'll be part of our Product Management community. We share our experiences and problems and talk to each other about what we are working on. It may not be easy at times, but you'll be well supported, and you'll get the learning and development opportunities that work from you, from book budgets, to coaching, mentoring and formal learning and certifications.
