About us:

Established in 1885, Millwall Football Club is one of the most famous football clubs in England. Currently competing in the EFL Championship, they play their home games at The Den, which is based in South Bermondsey, and has been the home of the Club since 1994.



Role Overview:

Millwall Football Club are looking to recruit a highly efficient team player who is flexible, motivated and keen to develop Physiotherapist for the U21s squad, reporting directly to the Head of Medical and Head of Performance at Millwall Football Club.

It will be your responsibility to plan and lead the medical care for all players in the U21s squad, including pitch-side cover at all matches, maintenance of the playing squad and rehabilitation of injured or unwell players, liaising closely with coaching staff and other disciplines within the academy and first team setups.



Key Responsibilities:

The role includes, but is not limited to:

· Ensure appropriate medical provision for all U21 training and matchdays.

· Provide pitch-side first aid and trauma management at U21s matches.

· Lead and perform U21s medical screening and cardiac screening in line with first team methods and academy requirements.

· Assess and manage all injuries and illness within the U21s squad, including appropriate treatment, rehabilitation and referrals where required.

· Liaise with first team and U21 coaching staff on a daily basis regarding player availability.

· Maintain daily contact with academy medical staff and provide regular updates to U21s coaches with regards to U18 availability.

· Design and deliver individualised injury prevention programs.



· Design detailed injury rehabilitation plans from early stages through to return to play, including both delivering gym and pitch-based rehabilitation.

· Refer for further medical investigations where appropriate and liaise with medical specialists regarding complex cases.

· Maintain medical records and note taking in line with clinical governance of the relevant governing bodies and in keeping with academy audit requirements.

· Conduct medical screening of trialists and assist in the administrative activities regarding their trial periods.

· Provide daily updates for player whereabouts as part of the anti-doping measures.

· Provide weekly medical equipment checks on all U21s trauma kit, including stock takes for medications and update the Club Doctor as required.

· Ensure adequate cover for players undergoing prolonged rehabilitation throughout the offseason period.



Essential Requirements / Qualifications:

· Chartered Physiotherapist registered with the HCPC.

· FA Advanced Trauma and Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF).

· FA Safeguarding qualifications.

· Experience working in a football setting.

· Knowledge of anti-doping regulations.

· Engages in regular CPD activities.

· Work flexibly and be open to travel extensively in the UK.



Desired Requirements/ Qualifications:

· MSc in an associated field (E.g. Sports Therapy/Rehabilitation, Sports Science).

· UKAD Clean Sport Advisor.

· Relevant qualifications around the role (E.g. dry needling/acupuncture).

· Hold a full clean UK driving license.

· Experience in use of MS Office products.
