Summary
About you:
You will be articulate and friendly and enjoy working in a busy, visitor-fronted Reception point. Excellent customer service & visitor engagement comes naturally to you, as well as an ability to operate digital booking/communication systems.
Energy, reliability, and a strong administrative focus are key qualities to bring to the role as you support the set-up of our busy programme of events, activities and corporate hire while also playing a key role on keeping the building and collections safe, secure and welcoming for all our visitors.
About the role:
This is a fixed term 12 month contract.
Reporting to the Visitor Services Officer, Museum VS Assistants are responsible delivering a visitor welcome that exceeds expectations, while also fulfilling many back-of-house and visitor facing support tasks. As well as acting as a main Visitor Welcome Point, the Receptionist role supports the wider Visitor Services team by handling enquiries/queries from internal and external sources, operating tills/points of sale, growing visitor support, and regular close working with other staff members/volunteers.
The role is one of a team sharing a 9-week rota pattern of working that covers our 7-day operations. Evening and weekend working form a key part of the role. All Museum Assistants act as keyholders for RAMM and receive training to undertake out of hours security call-out response (1 week in 9), for which a vehicle is provided. The role requires you to have a full clean driving licence and to live within a 20-minute drive of the Museum; this is a non-negotiable requirement as it forms part of our emergency response. Only applicants who can meet this requirement will be considered for the role.
About the team:
The Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) is an award-winning regional museum funded by Exeter City Council and by the Arts Council through the National Partner Organisation scheme.
Re-launched in 2011 following a major Heritage Lottery Funded redevelopment, winner of the Arts Fund Museum of the Year Award in 2012 and with a vibrant exhibition, events and corporate hire programme, as well as visitor figures in the region of a quarter of a million per year, RAMM is a friendly and welcoming service that sits at the heart of Exeter’s cultural and economic life.
With consistently ‘Excellent’ reviews on Trip Advisor and a host of tourism awards since opening, RAMM has built an outstanding reputation for high quality exhibitions and a great visitor experience. The Visitor Services Team plays a key role in delivering these standards.
A visit to RAMM should consistently surprise and delight our Visitors and we aim for every interaction with the Visitor Services Team to exceed their expectations!
