We have a fabulous opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Consultant to join us in the Intensive Care department at Salford Royal Hospital.

Join our dedicated & cohesive team of Consultant Intensivists to work as part of the transformation of the Critical Care Service - this role will work between Salford and Bury Care Organization's.

We would welcome applications from:
• Established Consultants in ICM/Anesthesia.
• Trainees who have completed a dual CCT in ICM
• GMC registered doctors who have completed a CESR in ICM.
• Trainees currently training in ICM and Anesthesia..
• Applicants who would like to work in intensive care medicine as a single specialty.
• Applicants who would like to work in both ICM and a partner specialty (see below).

All applicants must be included on the Specialist Register or be be eligible to be included on the specialist register within 6 months of the interview date.

As part of the transformation of Critical Care, there is an emphasis on delivering a sustainable & motivated workforce, recognising that a good work-life balance is of paramount importance. As such, we welcome applications from candidates who may wish to work less than full time, those from different specialty backgrounds, and from those who may want to work solely in critical care.

The successful applicant will join our existing team of 29 consultant intensivists. The Salford critical care unit is a mixed general and neuroscience facility which admits more than 2000 patients each year and is housed within the new ‘Hope Building’ which offers state of the art facilities.

In May 2021, the critical care unit at Fairfield General Hospital (BCO) became part of a single shared critical care service along with the critical care unit at Salford. A model has been developed to transfer patients with continuing complex critical care needs from Fairfield to Salford.

The post holder will be expected to join the multidisciplinary team which delivers high quality consultant-led care to critically ill patients in the Organisation.

Due to the changes being implemented to the critical care service, it is expected the post-holder has an interest in, and experience of, quality improvement and change management.
