Summary

Are you a good communicator with an understanding of audience research methodologies? Do you want to support the development of new permanent galleries and learning resources?

About Us

The Audience Research and Advocacy team collates and disseminates research and best practice across Science Museum Group (SMG) in a wide range of areas related to audience engagement.

To support the work of this team we are now recruiting a Senior Audience Researcher to design and coordinate audience research and share findings on the needs of audiences across SMG, especially in London. You will support the development of SMG's new permanent galleries, temporary exhibitions, learning resources and programmes to ensure they are genuinely audience-centred and deliver inspiring, engaging, and memorable learning experiences.

The Senior Audience Researcher will be based at the Science Museum in London with hybrid working also included. This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week on a permanent basis.

About the role

As Senior Audience Researcher you will be responsible for the development and dissemination of research, working with and advising internal and external colleagues. In the next two years this role will focus on the two new galleries in London: an object-rich gallery looking at the history of science and invention and another looking at Contemporary Science. You will consider equity in your work and have a passion for helping SMG engage audiences that might not see our museums as places for them currently.

About you

Joining us you will have an understanding of audience research methodologies, including data collection, analysis and interpretation. You will have a proactive approach and be able to manage research and projects effectively.

Crucially, you will be a good communicator, able to deliver clear and engaging presentations, coupled with the interpersonal skills required to work well in collaboration with others and to successfully influence colleagues at all levels.

We understand that work/life balance and wellbeing is crucial to our colleagues, so we offer the perks listed below, as well as support for things that happen in life such as parental and adoption leave, sickness, and career breaks.
