Summary

About the role

You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of software products developed by an Agile development team. You will work with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to define test strategies, plan, user stories and execute tests, provide feedback on product quality throughout the development lifecycle. Your role will involve leveraging Agile principles and practices to drive quality improvements and facilitate the delivery of high-quality software. We have several squads covering our key technologies and responsibilities:

  • Carehub – In-life customer support systems used by colleagues in Call Centres (Voice & Web-Chat) and our in-store colleagues at our Phone Shops. The tech stack is primarily based on SalesForce Service Cloud with integrations to other systems, such as IVRs and other backend systems.
  • eCommerce squad – Responsible for our customer (tescomobile.com) and colleague (Phone Shops and Call Centres) facing sales and retention platform. The tech stack is based on Adobe Magento and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) with integration to many back-end payment, billing and fulfilment systems.
  • Tech & Data– Infrastructure, monitoring / logging of all the Engineering systems and applications, software development tools and pipelines used across Tesco Mobile.

You will be responsible for

  • Work with the development team to understand requirements and user stories and derive test objectives and strategies.
  • Define and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts in alignment with Agile principles and project goals.
  • Identify test data requirements and create or acquire necessary test data sets.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of an efficient and effective test automation framework.
  • Execute functional, integration, system, and regression tests according to the defined test strategies and plans.
  • Identify and document defects with clear steps to reproduce, including relevant logs and screenshots.
  • Work closely with developers to investigate, debug, and resolve defects, ensuring their timely closure.
  • Perform exploratory testing and provide feedback on usability, performance, and other non-functional aspects.
  • Collaborate with the team to establish and maintain a robust CI/CD pipeline.
  • Automate test execution and integrate testing into the CI/CD process.
  • Monitor automated test results and investigate failures to ensure accurate and reliable test outcomes.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Provide timely and accurate updates on test progress, defects, and quality metrics.
  • Advocate for quality best practices, including code reviews, static analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members to continuously enhance the quality of the software being developed.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
  • Generate and present test metrics, including test coverage, defect trends, and release readiness.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the overall testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Conduct test process assessments and implement necessary improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in testing and quality assurance.

You will need

  • ISEB/ITSQB Foundation/Agile foundation
  • ISTQB Test Manager
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Proven experience in software quality assurance and testing, including test planning, test execution, efficient time management, and defect management.
  • Preferable skills to include API integration testing, Postman scripting, XRAY Jira test management, Telecommunications principals, DevOps principals, eCommerce principals, Salesforce, Confluence, Jira
  • Proficiency in using test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira and confluence.
  • Familiarity with test automation tools Selenium, Provar, Post.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles and processes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
  • Knowledge of programming languages to write automated tests is a plus.
