Part time, Permanent (Term-Time only 34 per weeks annum)

Applications are invited for the part time post of Catholic Chaplain working within the Directorate of Student Life at Royal Holloway University of London.

The University wishes to appoint a part-time Roman Catholic Chaplain, either an ordained priest or deacon or a Catholic lay chaplain, who meets the requirements of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton, and the University. It is an occupational requirement that the appointee is a practising Catholic.

The Catholic Chaplain will join our Multifaith Chaplaincy team, working with our Anglican and Muslim Chaplains, other faith groups and student faith societies to benefit student and staff life on campus. The role is a part time position with the Chaplain required to work 14 hours per week during the 30 weeks of term plus an additional 14 hours per week for 4 weeks outside of term time.

We are seeking a vibrant and enthusiastic person to help develop Catholic faith and worship on campus, to offer pastoral care, to be a strong, visible, and unifying presence on campus and to build and foster healthy community through outreach activity.

We are ideally searching for a Chaplain who is both ecumenical in Christian outlook and committed to co-operative, constructive, and positive dialogue with other faiths.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to equality and inclusivity, experience of innovatively and openly working with other faiths, and an understanding of the diversity of our community.

Our students and staff represent a diverse range of backgrounds and the University places immense importance on ensuring harmony and open communication on our multireligious and multicultural campuses in Egham and London. The University is strengthened by our diverse, multicultural community and the incumbent will embrace and enjoy the opportunities this brings. Our staff work within our EDI framework, to ensure that others abide by it, and to reflect our University Values of being Daring, Innovative, Open and Respectful in all they do.

We are a University of social purpose, creating positive change, for what matters – for our students, for society and for the world. The University is committed to promoting inclusivity and equality for all students and staff regardless of race, nationality, ethnic origin, gender, age, marital or parental status, dependents, disability, sexual orientations, religion, political belief, or social origins.

In return we offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:

Generous annual leave entitlement
Training and Development opportunities
Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
