Part time hours - 23 hours

Employer:HHFT Department:Maternity

Location:Basingstoke Maternity, Sherbourne Building, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

Salary:AFC Band 6 £37,338 - £44,962

At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, we provide maternity care to women across Hampshire and parts of Berkshire, caring for approximately 5800 women and their families every year. We have two obstetric units and a free-standing birth centre, and we are committed to constantly improving our service. We are part of the SHIP collaborative (Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Portsmouth) and our SHIP LMS is a Pioneer for Choice and Continuity.

An exciting opportunity has become available within the HHFT maternity service for an experienced midwife to join the Practice Development Team as a Band 6 Clinical Educator Midwife in the Basingstoke site.

As a Clinical Educator Midwife your primary role would be to provide mentoring, peer support and clinical supervision for midwifery colleagues and students. In particular supporting newly qualified midwives or midwives who are identified to have areas needing improvement. You will be supported by the Practice Development Midwives and there will be opportunity for you to undertake further development and training courses whilst in post.

Other key responsibilities include:

· Teaching students from a wide number of disciplines about maternity care

· Supporting ‘Clinical Skills Roadshows’ alongside the Practice Development Team

· Contributing to improving maternity services

· Supporting the band 5 preceptorshipprogramme alongside the Practice Development Team

· Welcoming and orientating new starters to the trust

· Identifying areas of education in maternity that require improvements and liaising these with the practice development team

· Being visible and approachable to the maternity team

· Flexibility to work clinically to help your colleagues when the unit activity is high

Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.

Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.

We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.

The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors. The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.

Tackling Climate Change: Hampshire Hospitals aims to embed sustainability and net zero carbon principles into the delivery of care across all its services. To find out more, search HHFT Climate Action orcontactclimateaction@hhft.nhs.uk.
