Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Chef/Cook Supervisor to join our culinary team in Hereford. As a Chef/Cook Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in overseeing kitchen operations, ensuring good-quality food preparation, and leading a team of kitchen staff to deliver great dining experiences.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation and service
- Develop and implement menu items, considering seasonality, local ingredients, and customer preferences
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene in accordance with food safety regulations
- Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
- Manage inventory, place orders, and control food costs to meet budgetary goals
- Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and ensure proper usage and cleanliness
- Collaborate with management to improve kitchen processes and enhance overall dining experience
- Assist in creating and implementing new recipes and culinary concepts
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen
Qualifications
- Catering qualification from a recognised institution
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with proven supervisory experience
- Strong culinary knowledge of various cuisines and cooking techniques
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- In-depth understanding of food safety and hygiene standards, with current Food Safety Certification
- Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment effectively
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Proficient in budgeting and cost control
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergens
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
