This is an exciting development opportunity to be a part of a new project delivering regulatory compliance activity for waste brokers and dealers. You will be an integral part of a national team assisting with Duty of Care Code of Practise audits on waste brokers and dealers. You will share intelligence with other business areas that regulate the waste industry. Strongly focussing on regulatory outcomes, you will liaise with local area teams, national operations and the National Enforcement Service with the outcomes and results of these audits.

Knowledge of waste regulations, enforcement, and auditing is desirable but not essential, as applicants new to the business area will be given the training and support needed to succeed.

You will:
• Be enthusiastic and willing to learn
• Have excellent communication skills
• Deliver the project outcomes including technical work and audits
• Have an eye for detail and be organised
• Be able to respond positively to change
• Be able to work at pace with others
• Help improve ways of working
• Have good organisational skills
• Be able to manage and input data onto our electronic systems

The team

This post is within Waste Industry Regulatory Services (WIRS), part of National Operations. We are building a new, high-performing team to audit waste brokers and dealers, track waste movements, identify non-compliances, provide advice and guidance to customers and update internal intelligence systems. The team will also consist of two Senior Technical Officers and six Regulatory Officers.

Experience/skills required

We are looking for someone that can demonstrate key transferrable skills and a willingness to learn as on-the-job training and support will be provided. An understanding of waste regulations, enforcement, and auditing would be an advantage; however this is not essential.

You’ll need to:
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Work well in a team and independently, organising yourself and your workload.
• Have a strong customer and partner focus.
• Have an inquisitive mind and an eye for detail.
• Plan, manage and deliver tasks to deadlines.
• Be an organised, flexible person who can deliver quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Be excellent at building/maintaining effective relationships.
