About the role

Our work matters to millions. It’ll matter to you too. Join our Living Places team as a General Operative on the Buckinghamshire Highways Alliance and you’ll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.

Required to work within the revenue team on the Buckinghamshire contract completing reactive, emergency and winter maintenance operational activities; utilising knowledge and experience to ensure that all works are completed to the required Health, Safety and Quality standards.

What you'll be doing

As a General Operative, your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Working within a culture of Zero Harm – embedding the 4 Golden Rules within all aspects of service delivery
  • Report all observations – Close Calls and Good Practices
  • Carry out a broad range of Highway maintenance activities - safety, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Conduct operational activities against required quality standards
  • Support the emergency service provision – in and out of hours
  • Participate in the delivery of winter service provision – in and out of hours

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • CSCS
  • NRSWA
  • Manual Handling
  • Abrasive Wheel
  • Class 2 HGV License

Experience in:

  • Civils
  • Drainage
  • Concreting
  • Driving
  • Kerbing
