We are looking for an API Gateway Developer to join our team. In this role, you will be involved in building new APIs on the Apigee Edge platform. Your main responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining API solutions that facilitate seamless integration and communication between systems, applications, and services. You will work closely with diverse teams to deliver scalable and customer-focused API solutions.
You will be responsible for
- Design, develop, and implement secure RESTful APIs using Apigee Edge, ensuring adherence to industry standards for secure and efficient communication.
- Collaborate with solution architects and development teams to build scalable and secure API solutions.
- Develop code that is reusable, testable, and efficient, following standard processes.
- Configure and customise Apigee Edge policies, proxies, and components to meet specific project requirements.
- Implement security measures and authentication mechanisms to protect APIs and ensure data integrity.
Integration and Connectivity
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to integrate APIs seamlessly into various applications and services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues to ensure smooth communication between different systems.
- Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track API performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimise system efficiency.
- Conduct regular performance assessments and implement optimisations to improve the overall API ecosystem.
Documentation
- Build comprehensive documentation for APIs, including specifications, usage guidelines, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation to facilitate collaboration among development teams and collaborators.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, QA, and business collaborators.
- Communicate effectively to understand business requirements and collaborate with collaborators throughout SDLC.
You will need
- Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Proven experience in crafting and developing APIs using Apigee Edge or equivalent API gateway platforms.
- Strong knowledge of API design principles, RESTful architectures, and web services.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, or Java.
- Experience with API security, authentication, and authorisation mechanisms.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven expertise in crafting DynamoDB tables for scalability and efficiency.
- Experienced in crafting, implementing, and optimising SOAP services handling complex data structures and integrating SOAP with other technologies.
- Demonstrates expertise in optimising HTTP performance, implementing caching strategies, and understanding advanced HTTP features.
- Able to work on Apigee Edge and systems integrations using APIs, serverless computing services (Azure Functions/AWS Lambda), and an architecture that emphasises message-based communication.
- Knowledge of source code systems and branching strategies, particularly GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Certification in one of the cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
- Significant experience in using GitHub Actions for Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.
- Exposure to Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) techniques, approaches, and tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
Preferred Skills
- 3 years experience of working with Apigee Edge and relevant certification.
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
