Summary

Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Canine Hydrotherapist specializing in fun swims to join our team. This unique role focuses exclusively on providing safe, engaging, and enjoyable swimming experiences for dogs of all breeds and sizes. Whether it’s a high-energy pup who loves to splash or a senior dog who enjoys a relaxing paddle, you’ll help create a fun and stress-free environment for our furry clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct Fun Swims: Facilitate structured and unstructured swim sessions tailored to each dog’s energy level, preferences, and physical abilities.
• Engagement and Play: Incorporate water toys, gentle games, and activities to ensure dogs are having a positive and exciting experience.
• Safety First: Monitor dogs closely to ensure a safe swim environment, using harnesses, ramps, or flotation devices as needed.
• Client Communication: Greet dog owners warmly, discuss their pets’ needs and preferences, and provide updates during and after each session.
• Pool Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining water quality and cleanliness of the pool area, ensuring a hygienic environment for all sessions. Maintain detailed log of water testing carried out.
• Canine Behavior Awareness: Recognise stress signals or fatigue in dogs and adapt sessions accordingly.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of swim sessions, noting each dog’s preferences, behavior, and any observations to share with owners.

Skills and Competencies:
• Experience with Dogs: Previous experience working with dogs in a professional setting (e.g., pet care, training, veterinary clinic).
• Aquatic Skills: Confidence in swimming and knowledge of basic canine water safety.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and spend extended periods in the water.
• Knowledge of Canine Behavior: Understanding of dog body language, energy levels, and stress signals.
• Communication Skills: Friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with pet owners and their dogs.
• Certifications: While formal hydrotherapy qualifications are not required for fun swims, basic first aid for pets is a plus. Animal care qualifications are desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who have formal medical hydrotherapy qualifications for our future progression into medical swims.
Personal Attributes:
• Empathy for animals and their owners.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.
What We Offer:
• A fun and fulfilling work environment surrounded by happy dogs.
• Training in canine water safety and engagement techniques.
• Opportunity to work with a passionate team of animal lovers.
