Crynodeb
To support the delivery of the aims and objectives contained the Operational Services Service Plan.
To provide supervision and technical support to all refuse, recycling collection, or toilet cleaning and street sweeping services staff for the purpose of maximising efficiency and effectiveness & dealing with operational issues which occur throughout the day.
To put the customer at the centre of everything you do.
Directly accountable for an individual service delivery section as well as providing support and cover across the entire unit.
To provide a supporting role to the Operations Manager in the function of customer focused front-line service delivery.
To supervise, maintain communication with and monitor the workforce in order to maximise the performance of the service.
To issue vehicles to crews and ensure that paperwork in compliance with the vehicle operating licence such as defect reports and log books are completed.
Responsible to carry out inspections of site operations to ensure compliance of operations to safe working practices, to minimise relevant hazards.
To issue daily work packs to crews ensuring that all information in the pack is up to date and correct.
To work with the Supervisor Support officer to identify and resolve root cause complaints relating to service delivery.
To be fully conversant with the Bartec “in cab” system and use it on a daily basis as the fundamental management tool that delivers seamless service delivery.
Monitor Bartec daily to ensure that all crews are using the system correctly and to its full capacity – address staff issues or training deficiencies immediately.
To respond to and resolve problems reported by operational staff on a daily basis including, Bartec problems, continuously updating round and work pack information also with specific points of interest including road closure information to ensure optimum customer focused service delivery.
To provide detailed local knowledge on operational problems using this knowledge in the correct deployment of vehicles and staff resource.
To provide data entry and retrieval on the computer system (green sweep and Bartec), To communicate with customers, councillors and other departments by the most effective method – face to face, e-mail, telephone, letter, memo
To continuously monitor and identify staffing deficiencies, reacting immediately to select and deploy agency / cover staff as required.
To work closely on a daily basis with workshop or external vehicle maintainer to establish vehicle availability within service schedule and non-routine maintenance to ensure sufficient transport capacity.
Lead by example and on a continuous basis supervise, monitor and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety policies and Safe Systems of Work. Maintenance of PPE records and the issue of PPE.
To ensure compliance with corporate policies including GDRP, freedom of information, fire safety; procurement of goods and services.
Participate in training & development activities within the department and externally where necessary.
Full range of supervisory duties in respect of post supervised e.g. recruitment, shortlisting, interviews, appointments
Undertake Staff inductions, probationary reviews and individual staff appraisals and on-going training needs.
Delivery of the relative part(s) of the service plan within agreed budget.
Supervising and performance managing staff including allocating work and approving leave (where agreed).
Supervising Health and Safety and leading by example on the Health & Safety agenda.
Undertake, timely return to work interviews, sickness absence reviews and informal capability meetings.
Responsible for the production of accurate records relating to all staff matters.
Ensure that all accident and incident forms are completed within strict deadlines and that accurate records are maintained at all times. Update Risk Assessments as required.
Undertake, produce and review service based Risk Assessments.
Work closely with the Council’s Customer and Corporate Communications team to ensure customers get up to date, relevant information about the services provided by the team.
