Summary
Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Manager to set up and oversee the day-to-day operations of a 2-bed children's residential home, providing high-quality care and support to children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). The Registered Manager will be responsible for setting up the home, leading the team, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting positive outcomes for the children in our care, and maintaining a safe, nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management:
Manage and lead a small team of residential staff, ensuring a high standard of care and support for children with EBD.
Provide supervision, training, and performance management to staff to enhance their skills and maintain high levels of motivation.
Conduct regular team meetings and contribute to a positive, solution-focused working culture.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the home is fully compliant with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Ofsted requirements, and local authority standards.
Oversee the development and implementation of care plans, risk assessments, and support strategies tailored to individual children.
Ensure all relevant documentation is completed accurately and within specified timelines.
Quality of Care:
Promote the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of children in the home.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with the children, ensuring they are listened to and their views are considered in their care plans.
Manage incidents and behaviours of concern in line with positive behaviour support frameworks, ensuring de-escalation and restorative practices are prioritized.
Safeguarding:
Lead on safeguarding practices, ensuring staff are trained and vigilant in identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns.
Ensure that all safeguarding incidents are reported, investigated, and acted upon in line with legislation and company policy.
Financial & Administrative Management:
Manage the home’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and maintaining records of all financial transactions.
Monitor and maintain health and safety standards, ensuring the environment is safe for children and staff.
Stakeholder Communication:
Act as the main point of contact for external agencies such as social workers, parents, and other professionals involved in the children’s care.
Prepare and present reports for external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Ensure regular communication with families, ensuring their involvement in the care and development of their child.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Qualifications:
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or working towards.
Sound knowledge of Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
Safeguarding and child protection training.
Experience:
Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role within children’s residential care, preferably with children with EBD.
Experience in managing and developing staff, ensuring the delivery of high standards of care.
A strong understanding of the specific needs of children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
Skills & Competencies:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Sound knowledge of risk management and child development.
A commitment to the ongoing development of best practices and continuous improvement.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience working with children with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Knowledge of therapeutic and restorative approaches to care.
Understanding of multi-agency working and the ability to build collaborative relationships.
