Summary
First-hand, you will gain an insight into the manufacturing of mainstream and specialist vehicles and components for all vehicle manufacturers who sell into the UK. This work will expose you to the latest vehicle technology, often before it reaches the market, along with witnessing more traditional methods of vehicle manufacture.
Working in a fast-paced environment, with our UK and overseas staff and manufacturers, your days will be varied, engaging with numerous stakeholders. You will need to be an effective communicator, with excellent customer service skills and have a forward-thinking attitude when prioritising tasks and dealing with conflicting priorities.
This role is a fantastic opportunity to join the Agency and work in the automotive industry. Your contributions will be of direct value to our team and the wider Agency, helping us to maintain our reputation with global customers and stakeholders.
There is an expectation to have regular week-based travel in the UK and be able to travel overseas; including stays of up to 4-weeks, several times per year if required.
Person specification
To apply for our Compliance Engineer position, you will need:
To be a quick learner, willing to interpret relevant legislation and how it applies to Conformity of Production.
To deliver outcomes on time and to a high standard.
To analyse data or documents and report on findings.
To work in an engineering capacity, following procedures and understanding regulations or standards (this does not need to be from an automotive sector).
Experience of engineering, manufacture, or the automotive industry with a strong desire to use this knowledge to assess and assist the industry.
A methodical mind-set, able to work through complex situations and report effectively and concisely.
The ability to undertake pieces of work, to conclusion, drawing on the skills and support available in the team.
The determination to finish work in a timely manner and to a high standard.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to present technical information to a variety of stakeholders.
Additional Information
This role is suitable for hybrid working, and therefore a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements. Hybrid working is a non-contractual arrangement where employees have the flexibility to work remotely combined with a minimum of 60% of their working time a month at either their principal workplace (one of the locations cited in the advert) or, when required for business reasons, visiting stakeholders and colleagues, or carrying out detached duty in another VCA workplace. There may be occasions where you are required to attend above the minimum expectation.

Licences
Full UK Category B Driving Licence is essential.
Qualifications
Qualification in an automotive, engineering or professional discipline equivalent to Bachelor’s degree, including Honours and Foundation degree and Diplomas of Higher Education. NQF level 5 and 6; or equivalent experience.
