Applications are invited to join The Healthy Ageing Service (HAS) and be part of a multidisciplinary team with Medical Staff, Registered Mental Health Nurses, Mental Health Practitioners, non-medical prescribers, Care Home Liaison Practitioner, Health Care Assistants, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapist and administrative staff.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, energetic and passionate about delivering high quality care to patients suffering with mental health problems. They should have experience of team working, possess sound organisation skills and be able to work on their own initiative. Effective communication and empathic skills are essential.

The post-holder will be part of a medical team consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Trainee Doctor. The position requires full GMC registration and we are looking for a candidate with experience in general adult psychiatry. Please note that active driving licence and access to a car is a necessary requirement for this role.

• Initial assessment, investigation and management of patients for their mental health issues
• Follow up of patients to monitor the progress
• Comprehensive review of notes, making detailed and accurate but concise summaries of very complex mental health histories
• Initiating Psychotropic medications and titrating whilst monitoring for side effects and physical parameters
• Liaison with other teams, or other medical specialties to determine better treatment outcome
• Comprehensive electronic documentation of sufficient standard and good communication with primary care services, other secondary mental health services and medical specialties
• Carry out domiciliary visits with colleagues
• Attend in-patient unit TOPAS to support with in-patient elderly care as required.
