Summary

1 Job Purpose Undertakes diagnostic audiometric testing on ENT outpatients, and Audiology patients as required. Delivers the Hearing Aid Maintenance and Repair Service. Supports patients with self-help and maintenance remotely including phone, email and post. Provide services across the central site, community spokes, on the ward as required. Support the general operation of the Audiology service as required. Updates own professional knowledge, keeping abreast of new technology and practices. Please note for this there are minimum requirements...1 Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for the past three years or more prior to starting the course...2 Have left full-time education when the apprenticeship you are applying for is due to start..3 Be aged at least 16 years old to meet government funding criteria. 2 Principal Accountabilities Provide Adult Audiology diagnostic ENT support. Provides a patient-focused and friendly Hearing Aid Maintenance and Repair Service. Responsible for the safe use of Audiology equipment. Responsible for processing patient information using databases and excel spreadsheets and other IT software Operational support of the Audiology service including maintaining appropriate stock levels, sending hearing aids for repair, checking in ear moulds as necessary and tasks related to audit and accreditation 3 Clinical and Technical Performing pure tone audiometry and tympanometry testing on adults across sites. Refers clinical decisions outside own expertise to supervising Audiologist Provides specialist clinical technical and advice service Responsible for providing high quality adult hearing aid repair service using appropriate technical knowledge Follows departmental and nationally agreed protocols and procedure Prepares clinic rooms for use including daily calibration check Develops a good understanding of modern hearing aid technology and hearing aid software 4 Clerical Managing patients on EPR and Auditbase system as appropriate To provide telephone, email and potal support for hearing aid users Process ear moulds and input data onto Auditbase Support the wider service through clinical administration duties when required To be responsible for own personal development to meet the organisational needs of the role 5 Teaching, Training and Research Attend training courses as deemed necessary for the post Remain focused to obtained internal sign off in peer review assessments of competency during training process To assist in support and training of new staff were appropriate. Once competent, share knowledge with trainees and locums as part of a wider training department.
