The role
To provide leadership and guidance to all shop floor colleagues on shift in the process department. Responsible for delivering KPI’s in terms of safety, food safety, quality, cost and service.
Key accountabilities
• Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and environmental standards.
• Plan and implement line improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Develop team members and share good practices.
• Achieve daily and annual compliance results.
• Manage resources (labour, materials, equipment).
• Lead improvement projects and training.
• Control web stocks, budget, and cleaning schedules.
• Reduce changeover times and ensure process capability.
• Handle holiday bookings and provide cover for other leaders.
• Make quick technical and HR decisions, escalating issues when necessary.
Skills & experience
• Team leader experience
• Production/factory experience
• Technical understanding of value stream and cost drivers.
• Knowledge of line performance, food safety, and compliance.
• Continuous improvement and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to deliver results through teams.
• People and results-focused mindset.
• Qualifications in Food Safety, IOSH, and biscuit making expertise.
• Excellent people management and communication skills.
• Health & Safety and Food safety qualifications.
• Computer literacy (SAP, Excel).
• Logical, analytical approach with attention to detail.
• Experience with automated manufacturing systems.
