Summary

Based at the Whittington Hospital and the Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (GOS ICH), this unique post offers the chance to: Lead an intercalated BSc (iBSc) programme: The UCL iBSc in Paediatrics and Child Health at GOSH ICH is one of the most popular programmes at UCL Medical School. Develop as an academic and an educator: Access world-class resources and mentorship to develop expertise and pursue formal qualifications in medical education. Support and funding are available for a postgraduate certificate in clinical education via the apprenticeship route, and previous fellows have taken advantage of this. The post-holder will receive an honorary academic contract at UCL, and access to university resources at UCL and ICH. They will also be encouraged to make use of the resources available at Whittington Health and the Whittington Education Centre. We encourage post-holders to pursue research or quality improvement initiatives, and support and guidance will be available for candidates who wish to do so. Pursue clinical excellence in paediatrics: Balance teaching with supervised clinical training at the Whittington Hospital, which provides a comprehensive paediatric service for children from birth. Services provided include a paediatric emergency department, paediatric ambulatory and day care unit, general and specialist outpatient clinics, in-patient care, a high dependency unit and childrens community nursing care. Tailor work-life balance: This is a less-than-full-time post at 0.7 FTE average over the course of the academic year. Opportunities may be available to supplement this with additional clinical work at the Whittington Hospital. This role offers unparalleled professional growth within a supportive environment, ideal for those passionate about paediatric care and shaping the next generation of doctors who care for children. We invite applications from those with a strong teaching interest in any area of paediatrics and child health. See the main pdf job description for full details.
