Summary

Maintenance and Contracts invites you to join our team as a Repairs and Voids inspector responsible for inspection of Council stock and specifying repair works to ensure that the Council maintains its assets to the Ipswich Standard.

Ipswich Borough Council is a progressive and dynamic authority with a large and varied property portfolio. The successful candidate will need to work well on their own, as well as part of a team, be conscientious and thorough in their approach to the identification and rectification of issues. They will report into the Senior Maintenance Manager and will work alongside an existing Repair and Void inspector, liaising with trades staff over the delivery of key repairs. To accurately identify work required and prepare works orders. To complete quality checks, interim and post inspections to ensure that the quality standards are met. To complete pre inspections on repairs and maintenance to identify the extent of the work required and recommend which team would be responsible for completion of the work, ensuring that identification of instances where works are rechargeable is also captured and communicated to the relevant parties.

Carry out liaison with customers, contractor and housing staff to ensure all relevant issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently.

Be qualified to a minimum of either HND/HNC in a building related field or working towards achieving this.

Previous experience working within the building industry.

Knowledge of current developments in building technology and relevant regulations ie: Health and Safety and building regulations.

Proven ability to diagnose problems and identify solutions.

Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Windows applications.

Proven ability to successfully manage budgets, including monitoring and reporting.

Full valid driving licence
