Ipswich Borough Council operates a range of services for residents, organisations and visitors to Ipswich, from cultural and community activities to education and environmental services, and everyday facilities like car parking and refuse collections.

Our organisation is constantly growing and developing to meet the needs of Ipswich and its residents. To help tackle and reduce the harm caused by Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB), the Community Support Team invites you to join our team as a Housing ASB Officer.

This role will manage complex ASB cases relating to Council Tenancy’s, providing a high quality, proactive and effective ASB management service, taking prompt and effective action to investigate all allegations of reported cases of ASB, whilst collaboratively working and maintaining strong working relationships with local partner agencies.

The role requires ASB Officers to implement and comply with all policies, procedures, regulations and legislation for tackling anti-social behaviour. Use all available methods within ASB case management to interview victims, witnesses and alleged perpetrators to ensure cases are managed sensitively and confidentially through to resolution.

It is essential for ASB Officers to maintain a professional relationship with national and local key agencies such as the Police, Probation and health services and identify, report and process concerns of adult and child safeguarding in line with the Council’s procedures.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive professional who has specialist knowledge and experience of tackling Anti-social behaviour within the community, some knowledge of working in the social housing sector and proven experience of building strong working relationships with customers, colleagues and external partners to provide joined up multi agency responses and achieve successful outcomes.

You will be educated to ‘A’ level standard or equivalent in a relevant subject e.g. Tenancy Management, ASB, Social Housing and hold evidence of your continuous professional development.

You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to present information to a high degree of accuracy, knowledge of the ASB case management principles through all stages of the process, including the legal framework, and have the confidence to manage difficult situations using a problem-solving approach. You will also have knowledge and experience to support and safeguard both the subjects and perpetrators of ASB and crime.

The most important part of this role is having pride in your work together with a positive attitude, proactive approach and the confidence to support a diverse range of people. You will be able to balance your passion and commitment with good organisational skills whilst maintaining a flexible approach.

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday.

DBS clearance is required for this role.

This is a hybrid working role (a minimum of 2 days per week working in the office).
