Crynodeb

North Bristol NHS Trust is transitioning the majority of its Quality systems from Datix (and other systems) into a new platform, Radar Healthcare, but will be retaining the Datix risk module.

Radar Healthcare system is currently live with 14 events or modules, with further Go lives planned during 2025, most notably, Incident Management (all types) and Mortality reviews. There will also be other smaller event types added.

The Radar Programme is overseen by a small team who have managed the programme and support the Business As Usual modules already in operation.

However, the Datix system expertise supporting the risk module and the legacy incident elements of the Datix system no longer exists and this presents risks whilst finalising the transition for the incident module and also whilst needing to sustain/develop the risk management module (risk register).

This role will sit within the Quality Governance Systems team, which reports into the Director of Quality Governance for the Trust.

It is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract and will also provide the postholder the opportunity to interact with and develop skills using the innovative Radar Healthcare digital system.

We are looking for strong expertise in the management of Datix systems within the NHS acute sector and the ability to support 'business as usual' functioning, adaptation of existing modules (for example risk, incidents and action plans) and to support the cut across work required for system migration to Radar for incidents during 2025.

The Trust has migrated to using the Microsoft Power BI reporting system during 2024 and we are now utilising that significantly for quality governance data interfacing and reporting. Therefore Power BI expertise is also advantageous in this role - working with our QG systems analyst and the wider digital team within the trust..

Flexible working is available,, with 2 days per week on site presence to build strong working relationships quickly and optimise effectiveness in the role interacting with patient safety, risk and Quality governance systems teams.

North Bristol NHS Trust employs over 12,000 staff providing healthcare to the residents of Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset from our award-winning hospital building at Southmead. We are the regional Major Trauma Centre, and an internationally recognised centre of excellence in a range of services and major specialities. Our vision is that by enabling our teams to be the best that they can be, we will provide exceptional healthcare, personally delivered.

North Bristol NHS Trust values all people as individuals. We aim to be an anti-discriminatory organisation and are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We welcome applicants from all underrepresented groups.

Datix Risk Register Module

· Working with the NBT Head of Risk Management, to advise and support the development of the Action Plan module in Datix for Risk register module.

· To support/advise upon the ‘business as usual’ system administration for the Risk module

· To develop Datix reporting that meets the requirements of Group level risk reporting from 2025/26 (with University Hospital Bristol & Weston) – liaising with the Risk leads from each trust.

· To develop interfaces into the Trust’s Data Warehouse and facilitate Power BI reporting, liaising with digital team colleagues as required.

Datix Patient Safety (and other) Incident System

· To support Patient Safety incident reporting requirements within Datix, working with the Head of Patient Safety, ahead of transition to the Radar system.

· To ensure robust system maintenance pre and post transition to the Radar System to ensure all legacy incidents are closed and archived.

· To develop robust system archiving approach as part of the transition project, liaising with Digital team and procurement as required.

· To work closely with the Patient Safety Team in supporting the transition to Radar and ensure completion of key Datix tasks to ensure data quality is sustained during and post transition.

Datix System (whole system)

· To act as a Trust contact with Datix ensuring service provision is provided as per agreement and that any maintenance requirements/interventions are actioned promptly.

· Support and maintain database and application servers: file structure management, security, back up, database management, web server administration, software/applications installation/upgrades of the DATIX system.

Radar System Implementation

· To support the implementation of the Radar System for Incident Management – providing expertise, advice and direct support for the existing project. This may include a range of duties, including user training, support for system testing and advice on system reporting.

Other Duties – as required

This is not a definitive list. As part of the Radar Programme team the role will require flexibility and agility within the context of an innovative and agile work programme during a time of significant change. We are keen to utilise the skills of individuals with a flexible and innovative mindset and strong technical knowledge of Datix and ideally Power BI too, but this is not a necessity.
